FUNCTIONING OF LEGAL AID CLINIC FOR
HIV/AIDS AT NAMAKKAL
The Tamil Nadu State Legal Services
Authority with the help of Tamil Nadu AIDS control Society and
the District Administration, Namakkal arranged to open a Legal
Aid Clinic at Namakkal and the Legal Aid Clinic at Namakkal was
inaugurated by the Hon’ble Patron-in-Chief, Tamil Nadu state
Legal Services Authority, the Hon’ble Chief Justice, Thiru.
A.P.Shah, in the presence of Hon’ble Tmt.Justice Prabha Sridevan
and Hon’ble Thiru. Justice M.Jaichandran, Judges High Court,
Madras.
Prior to the inauguration, a preliminary
meeting was organised with the persons living with HIV/AIDS, as
many as 24 representations were received, and follow up action
are being taken by the District Legal Services Authority,
Namakkal.
The Legal Aid Clinic is functioning in the
Government Head Quarters Hospital, Namakkal on every Wednesday
between 2.00 P.M. and 4.00 P.M. and also on every Saturday
between 10.00 A.M. and 12.00 Noon.
The Panel Lawyers from the District Legal
Services Authority, Namakkal are deputed to attend the said
clinic to offer legal advice. They are also receiving
applications from the persons living with HIV/AIDS and
processing and providing necessary legal assistance. If their
grievances are to be focused before the Court of law, such
applications will be registered in the District legal Services
Authority, Namakkal and further actions will be taken.
This Authority is proposed to open Legal Aid
Clinic for the persons living with HIV/aids in Dindigul and also
in every District Head Quarters where there is need.
Since it is in the preliminary stage no
progress has been shown at present. However, the District Legal
Services Authority, Namakkal has been taking care of the persons
living with HIV/AIDS in all aspects, irrespective of whether it
is Matrimonial, Civil dispute or any other disputes.
Initially in the month of April a
report has been received from the District Legal Services
Authority, Namakkal stating that 24 applications were received
from the persons living with HIV/AIDS most of them are of civil
nature. Out of the 24 applications processed in the Counselling
centre of the District legal Services Authority, Namakkal two
cases were settled. Other applications are pending process in
the Counselling Centre of the District Legal Services Authority,
Namakkal.

*Note: 1. The Petitioner is claiming
partition of the property. Both parties turned up for enquiry
and advised are given to both parties. Both Parties entered in
to compromise and agreed for partition and partition deed was
executed and registered in favour of the Petitioner.
2. The Petitioner is claiming partition of
property. Both parties turned up for enquiry and fathering-law
agreed to make partition for 35 cents and for cash of Rs.10,
000/-
3. The petitioner is claiming partition of
property from her husband. Petitioner has reported that both
have cordial relationship on process of this petition.
